How Mini Implants Are Different

Mini dental implants are different in several ways. They are smaller than traditional implants because they are made up of a one-piece screw. The post has a ball-shaped end protruding from the jawbone that is less than 3mm in diameter.
The mini posts are placed using a different technique from conventional dental implants. Regular implants are installed under the gums while mini dental implants are placed over the gums. That means the surgery is less involved, takes less time, and can be done in one visit. Local anesthesia is used and the procedure doesn’t require stitches. Recovery time is also quicker.

Aftercare

Aftercare for mini dental implants is the same as it would be for natural teeth including brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily. You should also visit your dentist regularly and use a fluoride toothpaste or rinse.
